HOUSES FOR THE DISPLACED PERSONS

Alashan settlement of the Martakert region, adjacent to Mehmana and Drmbon villages, was a military hospital during the Artsakh War.

Back in the Soviet period, thanks to its geographical position and temperate climatic conditions, Alashan served as a sanatorium.

Soon Alashan will become a settlement for the inhabitants of Talish who were displaced as a result of the April war. Currently, intensive construction and rehabilitation works are carried out there – the existing buildings and houses, with all the infrastructures, are renovated to serve as a temporary shelter for 27 families.

The area is flat. There are excellent conditions for agriculture and cattle breeding here. Located in the area adjacent to the Sarsang Reservoir, Alashan also has rich water resources. According to the Press Service of the NKR Ministry of Urban Development, the construction works are realized through the state budget funds. Construction materials are also delivered to Artsakh from Armenia and the Armenian community of Russia as humanitarian assistance.

According to the NKR Government Press Service, the construction of houses for immigrants are nearing the completion in some communities of Artsakh, but the Government is going also to give them to the people displaced from Talish.
