IVANYAN - A DEVELOPING COMMUNITY

Nanik AGHASYAN

Ivanyan of Askeran region is one of the developing settlements of Artsakh. Its proximity to the capital Stepanakert also contributes to that. The community currently has 377 households with 1559 inhabitants.

After the war, 53 displaced families with 182 inhabitants settled in the village. They are provided with a house and the necessary furniture. Some of the deportees already work in various institutions in Ivanyan. The economy is run by those who have the opportunity to use the area around the house for growing vegetables.

The construction of a new district with 180 apartments in the community, which is intended for our displaced compatriots, is nearing completion. "26 private houses are being built in a separate district. With the sponsorship of the owner of "Ivanyan Cannery" LLC, 5 private houses are being built in the community. 19 houses were damaged, which are being repaired by the Government. "Ten houses, fully renovated, have already been handed over to the beneficiaries, and nine renovations are nearing completion," said mayor Boris Ghahramanyan.

According tomayor B.Ghahramanyan, the district administration provided the residents with various types of construction materials to repair the buildings destroyed by the war.

The community has a kindergarten (42 students), a school (199 students), more than ten companies, private enterprises, a hairdressing salon, a bakery, a number of retail and wholesale shops. The municipality, the house of culture, the library, the banquet hall and the aid station operate in the two-story building built in recent years. There are also branches of "Karabakh Telecom" and "ArtsakhPost".

Mayor Boris Ghahramanyan is proud to say that you will not meet an idle person in the village. They have no problem with employment. In Ivanyan, they are engaged in cattle breeding: "large (112 heads)," small (400 heads). The soil here is fertile; almost everything can be cultivated to get a good result. Due to the small size of the village, they are more engaged in closed farming (pig breeding, beekeeping, poultry farming). Before the third Artsakh war, the community had about 200 beehives, but now only half are left.

The water supply works in Ivanyanare already in the final stage.

According to the mayor, even today, ignoring the horrors of the war, the people of Ivanyanare at their homes so that the smoke from their fathers’ hearths always rises.

"And if we all realize the potential of our homeland, we will have strong unity," says Boris Ghahramanyan.
