Today, for the first time in Artsakh, a cross procession was held from the yard of Holy Mother of God Cathedral in Stepanakert to the Stepanakert city memorial. The procession was preceded by a service at Holy Mother of God Cathedral in Stepanakert. Then the church bells rang to signal the start of the crucifixion.
On this occasion, the Holy Cross of King Ashot Yerkat, the guardian of the Armenian army, and the patron saint of the Holy Cross, St. Grigoris Khachvar, who led the crucifixion was brought to Artsakh.
A requiem service and a prayer for the victims of the Artsakh war was held at the Stepanakert city memorial under the presidency of the Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan.
Addressing the participants of the cross procession, the Primate of the Artsakh Diocese expressed confidence that both the memory and the hope for tomorrow should be a unifier.
"Living these days, with our unity, we must have in our minds one possible motto - to unite around an idea that contributes to the preservation of the Armenian identity," said the Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Artsakh Republic Gagik Baghunts, deputies, Minister of Foreign Affairs Davit Babayan, state officials also took part in the procession.
