On January 28, NKR Minister of Agriculture Andranik Khachatrian, with the participation of journalists, summarized the results of the 2013 economic year.
One of the important achievements of the state agrarian policy of the Republic is creation of the NKR Fund for Rural and Agricultural Support, which started its full-fledged job in 2008. Via the Fund, the Government realizes numerous programs aimed at the solution of the branch’s problems.
One of the Vallex Group companies - Base Metals Company is exploiting two mines in Nagorno Karabakh – the Drmbon underground mine and the Kashen open mine.
The industrial infrastructures sphere, which is declared a priority by the NKR authorities, is the most comprehensive branch in the economy.
On September 3, after a joint working meeting at the NKR Government, the RA delegation led by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, accompanied by NKR Prime Minister Ara Harutyunian and Vice-Premier Arthur Aghabekian, visited Metaxcombinat (Silk Factory) Ltd. comprising a few different companies.
Generally, the situation doesn’t much differ from that of the last year. Harvesting is finished in the most part of the corresponding area, the harvest amounting to about 80.000 tons. The sphere's officials are, however, optimistic, hoping to exceed the last year index.
Ari Company tries to unite the Diaspora investors
On July 15, NKR Prime Minister Ara Harutyunian met with Ani company’s board members, who had arrived from the Diaspora.
NKR Prime Minister Ara Harutyunian noted with apparent satisfaction that a document would be signed at the next meeting with the company’s board members, which would initiate the prospective development of Artsakh.
Director of the RA National Technical Security Center Ashot Petrossian and Director of the NKR Technical Security Center Sergey Babayan participated in the 11th international conference organized in the Russian city of St. Petersburg by the Expertise Municipal Center.
According to Mr. Babayan, the Armenian delegation was participating in the conference for the second time.
About 15 states were represented by over 200 specialists, experts, security employees, enterprise directors, and representatives of state structures.
The works are entering the final stage in Kashen
The significant works of the modern stage of mining activities started in Artsakh in 2002. They were initiated by Base Metals Company. Already in 2003, the company started the Drmbon mine exploitation and soon gained the title of taxpayer #1 in Artsakh.
The spring works started the last months in the Republic are underway.
According to the latest data of the NKR Ministry of Agriculture, 15297.7 hectares of land are plowed, against the 11837.6 hectares for the same period of the last year. Sowing has been implemented this year on 11999.6 hectares of land. The highest indexes on plowing and sowing are registered in the Askeran region: 5710.7 and 5069.6 correspondingly.

- Mr. Khachatryan, the period of intensive agricultural activities has started. Please, describe the process of spring spadework.
The recent meeting of the government endorsed the state order for capital construction to be funded from the state budget for 2013. According to NKR Minister of Urban Development Karen Shahramanyan, the order volume amounts to 11 billion and 500 million drams, instead of 13 billion and 637 million drams in the past year. As, compared to the last year, it decreased by over 2 billion drams, the program primarily includes passing objects that make up about 75% of the overall program.
The Minister of Agriculture summarized the year of 2012
Last week, NKR Minister of Agriculture Andranik Khachatrian summarized the year of 2012. At a meeting with journalists, he presented the situation, the tasks and problems in the sphere.
Speaking of the strategic importance of the agrarian sector, Mr. Khachatrian focused on the necessity of ensuring food- self-sufficiency, development and consolidation of rural settlements. Noting that for the last 5 years the agrarian sphere had provided 13.4% of GDP and in January-September of 2012 it made 14.7%, he said that the index was expected to increase within a year.
From November 30 to December 2, a conference of leaders of the information communication technologies sphere (ICT) of the two Armenian states, titled “Issues of Technological Development in Artsakh”, took place in Stepanakert. The ICT leaders' meeting was organized with the joint efforts of the Union of Information Technologies Industries (UITI), the RA Ministry of Economy and the NKR government. This is the third meeting in Artsakh.
The fact that billions of drams are directed to the agricultural development programs in Artsakh is considered natural by everybody. After all, this economic sphere is proclaimed strategic, and the necessity of ensuring its effectiveness is justified not only by economic, but also social factors. Realizing the importance of this goal, a series of government programs aimed at the development of any agricultural sphere started 4 or 5 years ago. Positive developments are available. But, the existing indexes are difficult to be considered equivalent funds invested in the development of the agrarian sector. The government offers news approaches in the agricultural development. In this case, the potential beneficiaries – farmers - will be interested not just in getting government support, but in its most efficient use.
Grain harvesting is underway in the Republic.
These days, those responsible for this area are working on a very tight schedule, so that to harvest the crop as soon as possible, as the "summer day feeds a year."
Three days, the RA Financial Conciliator's Office (FCO) held seminar-trainings in Stepanakert, the representative of which, specialist in investigating the claims of the Financial Conciliator's Office, lawyer Hayk Hovhannisian informed that the trainings were aimed at increasing consumers’ awareness of financial education.
On June 25, the Bridge Artsakh Forth Economic Forum summarized its works in the NKR. It started on June 23, at the plenary session held at the Stepanakert Youth and Culture Palace and was continued in Shushi, in the form of sectional sessions and acquaintance with some companies operating in the Republic.
